Nature Nuts tours......Taylor made
A few years ago through one of my beaver tours I met a real gentleman and his lady, Al Taylor and Annie. Al got in touch with me early this week intimating that he would be in my patch on Friday. I gave him directions to a Black Grouse lekking point and said I'd meet him once I finished work. I arrived on the moor just after 6 but no birds were to be seen so I suggested we went to see Pine Martens. Al was cool with that and off we popped. What followed was a bit surreal in all honesty. As we arrived at the hide there were a ewe and lamb at the feeding station, "this wont do" I said and gently persuaded them to disappear elsewhere. We entered the hide, lifted the windows, closed the door and before we even sat down this gorgeous creature was chomping away on some nuts
The animal didn't hang around long due to quad bikes so we decided as it was still early to go see the beavers. They didn't disappoint as we had only been there for 10 mins and a still very pregnant mum showed face
A lovely evening spent with a top quality bloke. Other sightings en route were Goldfinches, Pippits, Larks, Pheasants, Roe Deer, Fallow Deer, Buzzards, heron, bullfinches, a puckle baby Conies plus the very audible calls of Curlew, Snipe and Cuckoo. A great ad-hoc tour with a good friend, laughs and strawberries were in ample supply :-)
