Nature Nuts

Westhill Wanderers

I was contacted a while back about taking some folks out on the hill to see what species we could, namely Ptarmigan and White Hare. My group consisted of Andrew, Audrey, Evelyn and Jill from Westhill Aberdeen. I appeared at the meeting place about 90 minutes early and had a wee drive about. I spotted a wee herd of Red Deer stags wandering about the base of Carn na Greine and Creag an t-Sean-ruigh

A wee flock of Snow Buntings on Sunnyside

My party arrived and they proved to be a wonderful lot. Unfortunately the weather was not great and it had been snowing slightly over night. It was in fact very foggy, however all the guys managed the wee ascent up the top, the first Munro for Audrey in fact.

We managed a good walk about and spotted an individual Ptarmigan

A good few hares

Plus the ever present Red Grouse

A wee finish to see the buntings before we parted was next in line and although we saw them, the light beat us. Regardless, it was and always will be a pleasure seeing them. So, a lovely end to a lovely day.
